Unique for an organization our size, the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce operates its own retail boutique, Whistlestop Gifts, which is located within the historic Dowagiac train depot.

Specializing in Dowagiac gift items and memorabilia, the boutique is popular among vacationers and local residents, who enjoy sending custom-designed Dowagiac gift items and apparel to children at college, or to family members who have relocated out-of-state.

Dowagiac merchandise lines feature:

  • Dowagiac Grand Old City sweatshirts & t-shirts
  • embroidered city & state adjustable caps
  • embroidered Dowagiac canvas totes
  • coffee cups, imprinted with the Grand Old City logo
  • children's Frisbees, featuring the Grand Old City logo
  • Dowagiac Central High School 1925 ~ Limited edition collector's plate
  • embroidered Wearable Art Series, depicting Dowagiac's public sculptures
  • Round Oak notecards, marking Beckwith's 1854 arrival
  • Round Oak limited edition china, depicting the fictitious Indian chief, Doe-Wah-Jack
  • Dowagiac "Grand Old City" limited edition china
  • The book, "Images of America ~ Dowagiac," written by Steven Arseneau & Ann Thompson

  • Also available are the colorful images of The Grand Old City, pictured through our beautiful collection of five regular and over-sized postcards.

    The modern-day postcards feature:

  • brilliant Dogwoods in blossom at Riverside Cemetery
  • the springtime artistry surrounding the public sculptures Dance of Creation, Resting Dancer and Beckwith Park
  • Farr Park in autumn
  • the historic Dowagiac train depot
  • the Soldiers & Sailors Monument at Dr. James E. Burke Park

Whistlestop Gifts is pleased to market for the Downtown Development Authority the two-volume set of books entitled Dowagiac Stories, written by the late Stan Hamper, who was an avid historian.

Available exclusively for use by our Chamber member businesses, the boutique also carries custom-designed Dowagiac shopping bags. The tri-color plastic bags, which feature The Grand Old City logo in burgundy and teal, measure 15 by 18-inches and provide a sturdy die-cut handle.
