In today's global economy, one of the most important things a person
can do to assure his future success is to obtain a quality education.
Conveniently
located two miles east of Dowagiac is Southwestern Michigan College
(SMC), a state-of-the-art, two-year community college. Superior instruction,
fine facilities, and individualized academic assistance for students
combine to make this a premier Michigan college.
SMC offers more program choices than ever before. Certificate programs
provide students with the specific classes and training they need
to complete a shorter course of study. SMC also provides the quality
academic coursework that leads to an associate degree. |

Associate degree coursework at SMC is highly transferable to four-year
colleges and universities. As such, students benefit from high quality,
individualized instruction during their first two years of college,
as they enjoy more affordable tuition rates.
Just as important, the college teamed up with Ferris State University,
Western Michigan University and Bethel College to offer six bachelor's
degree programs that allow students to complete a four-year degree,
while attending classes at the Dowagiac campus.
SMC offers occupational programs in business, health care and technology,
including state-of-the-art programs in advanced manufacturing technologies.
Specialized programs of study include nursing, fine and performing
arts, graphic design, early childhood education and advanced manufacturing
technology. Students can also enter career internship and apprenticeship
programs while they learn.
Southwestern Michigan College, a member business of the Greater
Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, is located at 58900 Cherry Grove Road.
Its Niles campus is located at 2229 US 12.
