The American Cancer Society is the nation's premiere voluntary health organization, with more than 2.5 million volunteers who donate their time, energy, and resources in more than 3,400 offices across the United States, including 33 offices in Indiana and Michigan.
Volunteers work side-by-side with American Cancer Society staff in communities throughout our Great Lakes Division to help achieve the society's goal of eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Volunteers deliver cancer prevention programs, implement detection and awareness campaigns, provide services to patients and their families, organize fundraising events, and advocate for sound public health policies.
American Cancer Society volunteers come from all walks of life, ranging from school-age children to senior citizens ~ all of whom have a variety of skills and backgrounds. They do, however, have one thing in common. They want to make an impact in the fight against cancer.
To volunteer, use the contact information above.

Nestled between the beautiful inland lakes of southwestern Michigan and the historic city of Dowagiac, the Apostolic Lighthouse Church has been a beacon of hope for more than 35 years. With a heartbeat to impact the community, and a focus on families, the Lighthouse is engaged in assisting and serving the area.
The church offers 30 services to the community. Among its services are: the Lighthouse Christian Childcare Center, which is a Michigan-certified childcare facility; Hope's Door, a ministry committed to caring for women in need; and the Lighhouse food bank that supplies essentials for families that are facing misfortune.
With a visionary and active leadership team and a congregation that is warm and friendly, the church welcomes the public to its lively worship services, insightful ministry and to share in the genuine love and care its congregation has for the youth of our community.
Its most recent endevor, which is an extension of Hope's Door ministry, is Hope's Door Thrift Store. Located in the downtown at 132 S. Front St., the shop accepts donations of gently-used family apparel and items for the home, including furniture and appliances. The thrift store also serves familiies in need and offers the women of Hope's Door an opportunity to regain their job skills and work ethics.
