Sustainable Recycling Services, which specializes in industrial scrap and is a buyer of scrap metal, strives to exemplify and demonstrate Louis Padnos Iron & Metal Company's integrity, honesty, customer service and business ethics by being detailed and diligent in all aspects of business.

What began in the early-1900s as a simple, service orientated, scrap peddling business built from scratch by Louis and Helen Padnos, has since grown into a sophisticated, environmentally aware institution with world wide influence. Having survived two world wars and the 1930's Depression, the company has ultimately thrived, as a reflection of its strong belief in the value of scrap as a renewable resource, and the importance of customer satisfaction. Company officials believe the work the firm does makes the world a better place to live. They aspire to excel as a leader in the recycling industry through its quality and environmental systems.

Receiving hours at the Dowagiac site are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sustainable Recycling Services accepts aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, radiators, autobodies, appliances, steel, cast iron, paper, plastic, lead acid and auto batteries, lead, catalytic converters and electronics. Additional items are accepted under special conditions. For a full list of items the company accepts and those materials it does not accept.
